Dr. Deirisa Lopes Barreto

Deirisa Lopes Barreto, PhD, is a project lead and senior researcher at Maasstad Hospital – The Netherlands whose work is focused on co-creative (technological) innovation, strategic implementation & evaluation in clinical practice, and their interrelatedness with healthcare transformation. As co-initiator of the (inter)nationally awarded and nominated Joint Decision Support program, she led the project team for which among other activities an ICHOM PRO integrated shared-decision dashboard was established and implemented. She has been a former chair of the Maasstad Hospital VBHC platform as well as a core member of the national Linnean Initiative working group IT & Data.
Deirisa has a BSc in Life Sciences, and obtained her MSc in Evidence Based Practice in Healthcare at Amsterdam UMC-University of Amsterdam. Her PhD thesis was on biomarker- based personalized medicine for peritoneal dialysis (2014). During her PhD and postdoc years she received a number of international awards and nominations for Best Abstract and Best Young Investigator. She is a registered senior epidemiologist with peer-reviewed publications and (inter)national book chapter contributions. At present, her scientific activities are concentrated on VBHC through real-world data and evidence, where she is the formal co-supervisor of PhD students.
